Who is responsible
LearnLapidary is operated by Léandre Dubuc, based in Québec, Canada. He is the owner of the site and the person in charge of the protection of personal information. You can reach him through the Contact page.
What we collect and why
We collect only what we need to run the site and to answer you.
- Messages you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you give it, and your message. We use them only to reply and to keep a record of the exchange.
- Technical data. Our web host automatically records standard technical data when you visit: your IP address, the type of browser and device, the pages requested, and the date and time. We use it to run and secure the site. Our host keeps it for a limited time, under its own practices.
- Typefaces. To display the site’s typefaces, your browser currently requests font files from Google Fonts. Google receives your IP address and browser details when that happens.
Cookies and tracking
The site does not set cookies of its own. It does not use analytics, advertising or social media tracking tools. If that changes, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent, where the law requires it, before any tracking starts.
Links to other websites
Product links lead to other websites, such as Amazon or the makers’ own sites. When you follow one, you leave LearnLapidary and that site’s own privacy practices apply, including its use of cookies. Some links are affiliate links and carry an identifier that tells the retailer your visit came from our site. The retailer, not LearnLapidary, handles your purchase and your payment details. Who we share information with
We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only where the law requires it and with the two providers that run the site and our mailbox: our host, WHC (Web Hosting Canada), and our email provider, Microsoft (Outlook.com).
Where your information is stored
Our site is hosted in Canada by WHC. Our mailbox is provided by Microsoft (Outlook.com), so the messages you send us are stored on Microsoft’s servers, which may be outside Québec and Canada, under Microsoft’s own policies. The font files requested from Google, and the websites you reach through product links, may also be served from outside Québec and Canada, under their own policies.
How long we keep it
- Messages: up to 24 months after our last exchange, then we delete them.
- Server logs: kept by our host for a limited time, under its own practices.
Your rights
You may ask us at any time to show you the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to withdraw a consent you gave. Write to us through the Contact page and we will answer within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Visitors in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom also have the rights granted by the GDPR, including the right to object and to complain to their local authority. California residents have rights under the CCPA. We do not sell or share personal information.
Children
LearnLapidary is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version, and we will announce major changes on this page.
